September 9, 2018 is quickly approaching and it is our sincere hope that you have marked your calendar to join us that day for our annual home tour. Every dollar raised through tour day ticket sales goes to supporting our mission of improving the lives of those living with cancer. These funds, combined with the financial support of all of our gracious donors and sponsors, allows our organization to continue to assist OhioHealth with the integrative care offerings at the OhioHealth Arthur G.H. Bing, MD, Cancer Center at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
We are often asked what can be expected on tour day. Those who have never attended often have questions about the logistics of it all. Hopefully this blog will answer a few questions for all of you first-time attendees.
Seven gorgeous homes in the Upper Arlington area await you on tour day. Each house has recently undergone a kitchen renovation and you will have the chance to get an up close look at the completed project. The tour kicks off at noon and runs until 5pm, so there is plenty of time to visit each home. There is no set route you must follow. You can select which home will be your starting point. Visit the homes in any order you would like. As far as parking goes, each of the tour homes is located in a residential area, so street parking is available at each stop. Even if you have to park a street or two away from the home you are visiting, the quick walk allows you to admire the home’s exterior and the neighborhood in general.
You will be greeted by Kitchen Kapers members at each home. You will know it is us by the Kitchen Kapers aprons we will have on. Some of us will greet you at the door of the home. Others will be in the kitchen ready and waiting to answer any questions you may have. Go ahead and ask us about the materials used for the counter tops. Inquire about what contractor completed the renovation. We encourage you to learn as much about each kitchen as you would like. Other members will be stationed in the kitchen to serve refreshments. We partner with local restaurants who generously donate food for tour attendees to enjoy that day. Be on the lookout for light fare to sample at each home.
Our home tour allows for you to step foot inside of your Pinterest boards. To visit homes you may have admired from the outside. It makes for a day full of home improvement inspiration and time spent with family and friends as you explore each stop on the tour. More than anything, it is a day to be a part of a cause that helps so many fighting cancer. A cause that is near and dear to our heart. A cause we thank you for supporting.
